Head of Employee Experience & Engagement

Position Summary:

The Head of Employee Experience & Engagement will help lead Oportun's efforts to create a compelling employee experience that enables performance excellence across the organization. You will design and deliver leadership and employee talent management strategies that nurture Oportun's culture and employee value proposition. Through various employee engagement insights, you will identify and partner with various stakeholders to prioritize and drive initiatives that enable the company to deliver best-in-class experience throughout the employee life cycle.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Create and execute multi-year roadmap centered around best in class initiatives leveraging data to implement strategies that promote and achieve a culture of excellence and high engagement.
  • Design and deploy an effective engagement survey, action planning and change management practices that supports Oportun's business strategy by partnering with key stakeholders across HR and business functions globally.
  • Develop and implemented a comprehensive performance management philosophy, programs and tools that improve employees and leadership development and effectiveness.
  • Improve employee experience by identifying and improving various employee life-cycle touch points including innovating approaches to learning and talent development.


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources related field and a minimum of 10+ years of Human Resources experience, MS, Organizational Development is highly desired.
  • Flexible and able to successfully navigate ambiguity and succeed in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Must prefer excelling as part of a team and has a passion for creating a great place to work.
  • Outcomes driven, highly analytical and metrics oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to successfully influence and effectively work across functions and personalities.
  • Experience with "Best Places to Work" designations.
  • Diverse experience across different HR disciplines (talent development and management/OD/ OE/ change management / HRBP) with increasing responsibilities and expanding scope, ideally gained in a global company.
  • At least 5 years of Learning and Development and Employee Engagement responsibilities.
  • Flexibility to travel 10 - 25%.
