San Francisco Releases 2017 HCSO Rates
posted: Tuesday, September 13th
New Health Care Expenditure Rates Effective January 1, 2017
The San Francisco City & County Office of Labor Standards Enforcement (OLSE) has released the 2017 health care expenditure rates concerning the Health Care Security Ordinance (HCSO).
Background
The HCSO is a San Francisco law that established several employer health care-related obligations enforced by the OLSE and created a Health Access Program administered by the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Under the HCSO, covered employers must meet certain obligations, including (among other things) satisfying the Employer Spending Requirement (ESR) by calculating and making required health care expenditures on behalf of all covered employees.
2017 Health Care Expenditure Rates
For hours payable on or after January 1, 2017, the health care expenditure rate for large businesses (100 or more employees total) will be $2.64 per hour, and the rate for medium-sized businesses (20-99 employees total) will be $1.76 per hour.
Note: For hours payable on and after January 1, 2017, only irrevocable health care expenditures will be counted toward the HCSO employer spending requirement.
