California Issues Template Notice of Inspection by Immigration Agencies for Employer Use

Notice Also Available in Spanish

California has released a template Notice of Inspection by Immigration Agencies that employers may use to comply with certain legal requirements.

Employer Notice
Under state law, an employer generally must provide a notice to each current employee of any inspections of federal Forms I-9 or other employment records conducted by an immigration agency within 72 hours of receiving notice of the inspection. Such notice must contain certain required content and be posted in the language the employer normally uses to communicate employment-related information to the employee.
