IRS Issues FAQs on New Withholding Tables

Agency Offers Guidance to Employers
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has issued FAQs for employers on its new withholding tables, which were released to reflect changes in tax rates and brackets, the increased standard deduction, and the repeal of personal exemptions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Subjects addressed in the FAQs include the following:
- When people will see changes in their paychecks
- Explanation of withholding tables and Forms W-4
- Recommended actions for employees
- Anticipated future IRS actions
